The Book, “Maya: Initiate 39”

Book Title: “Maya: Initiate 39”

Genre: Genre: Fiction-children, juvenile, young adult, inspirational

Synopsis
Maya was raised single-handedly by her ‘”father,” Samuel, who
divorced his wife, Cynthia, years ago, on grounds of infidelity,
before she turned three years. Growing up in Durban was mixed with the
good, bad and ugly for Maya.

Influenced by Craig, her schoolmate, Maya went into the underworld
endeavors of stealing, drug trafficking and prostitution under the
cover of a very-perverse juvenile assembly, called the Alternative
lifestyle Club (The ALC). She joined the club in the very pursuit of
what she called her “destiny”…

By initiating “39”, what was necessary for the functionality of the
ALC, she became popular among many top-notch Southern Africans.

But, after several disappointments, Maya thought she could use her
“connects” to bite the fingers that fed her by carrying out the
assignments given to her own way- a way of letting the organization
know that she was no push-over. But that was not the case!
Consequently, Craig and Ms. Diana, the active players of the club, led
this juvenile to her doom-they set her up and the police did the rest.
The long arms of the law landed her prison in Johannesburg. It was in
the prison she knew changing for the better would be appropriate.

Through the favor from Van Brussels, a rich gold merchant, school
owner and chairman of the Louisville Shipping Company, whom she had
done some wrong in the past, Maya was released from prison before the
stipulated prison sentence, sent to the United States for Secretarial
studies, worked in his company, Louisville Shipping Company, for a
couple of years and soon returned to her native Durban home in South
Africa with her husband, Daniel Young, to find her ‘father’ whom she
left for years.

Maya became the woman of substance; her fame and enterprise rose to
the corporate ladder. But before then, something really happened….

Chapter One
“Hey! What are you doing outside at this time?! It’s after six and you are still here playing with those N-D-W kids! My goodness! Maya, I told you to stay indoors before I left for work! Here you are playing with them! I instructed you never to come near them, but you refused to listen! They are bad eggs! For goodness sake, when will you learn, Maya? Do you want to be like your mother? Now, at the count of three, go inside the house and wait for me! One…two… and…” These were the words of Samuel, Maya’s father, after he saw her in the company of the so called ‘Ne’er-Do-Well Kids’.
Maya swiftly charged towards home, five houses away from the Kimberly Children’s Play Ground, with every Tom, Dick and Harry taking a stern look at her as she ran home.
Ten minutes later, Samuel decided to mete out the punishment he felt Maya deserved. She sat nervously on the sofa in the living room and Samuel stood opposite to her. Maya knew she was in for trouble.
“Maya, hmm…you failed to listen to my instruction for the third time! I left for work at 7.00am and told you how I expected you to behave. In June, you’ll be eleven years of age. You’re no longer a baby! You’ve reached an age where you should be able to take and follow instructions! You were told not to step an inch from this house. You’re on holidays. For Christ’s sake, I expected you to read your books and watch TV programs. But you chose to play with those useless children! Oh my goodness! Maya, why did you not follow my instructions?”
Maya stuttered, “I wanted….to….stay indoors but I was…”
“So, you want to start telling lies! Who taught you how to tell lies? The N-D-W kids? Those useless kids you play with, right? You’ve suddenly lost your voice. Haven’t you?” Samuel asked angrily.
“No!” Maya replied.
“Then tell me the truth!”
“I’m sorry, Dad, for what I did. I promise it won’t happen again! I promise to always follow your instructions!” Maya assured him.
“I’m tired of your ‘I am sorry’ attitude, Maya!” Samuel said, his words cold and angry. He took a stern look at his daughter. “By what the wall clock says, 8.00p.m. is the time. Your punishment is that you’ll have to write in this twenty-page notebook the sentence ‘I am sorry, daddy’ a thousand times. I swear that if you disobey me a third time, I’ll punish you. Take this and go to bed. Before I go to work tomorrow, I want to see that you’ve completed what I commanded you. Get out!”
Maya tearfully went to her room, glancing at her dad, who ignored her departure. He was already busy watching ‘The News at Nine’ on his LCD TV set.
Hours later, knowing that his daughter was probably asleep, Samuel couldn’t help but ask himself, “Am I actually playing the role of a father to her? How will she feel when I eventually have to tell her that I’m not her biological father? How do I tell the story that led to her birth if she asks me some day? In this life, anything can happen! Left to me, I don’t intend disclosing anything about that infidel! But how would she feel if I decide to tell the story of her mother’s lifestyle? How would she feel if I told her that her mother was a jump-around? Am I really disciplining my precious pearl the right way? One day, she’ll ask me where her mother is. How do I explain to her that her mother and I have been divorced since she was three years old? Oh, how I wish Cynthia and I weren’t divorced! If we were still together, would raising Maya be such a mental challenge? God help me overcome this life’s hurdles in future, I pray.”

He went to bed after taking a sip of vodka.

Seven a.m., and it was time to leave for work. Fully dressed and prepared to go, but having forgotten what he had told Maya to do the previous night, Samuel reminded her: “Remember, this is the time you ought to be awake! I have trained you to always be awake at this time when you are on holidays. But when you’re going to school, you should be out of bed by 6.00a.m. I have to go to work now! Make sure you stay indoors and never ignore my orders again!”
“Yes, I will dad.” She smiled up at him.
Maya had served her punishment, almost filling her notebook with ‘I Am Sorry, Dad’. But Samuel had forgotten as he was getting ready for work.
“Last night, you told me to write ‘I Am Sorry Dad’ on my notebook. I did,” Maya reminded him. “I have it with me…you can have it.”
“Oh…I forgot! Okay…let me have it,” he requested.

Samuel glanced through the pages of the notebook handed over to him.
“That’s my girl! I want you to behave well and be the Maya I’ve always thought you to be,” Samuel said, patting her on the back. “From now on, are you assuring me that I’m going to be proud of you?”

“I’m the good girl you‘ve known me to be! Daddy, I am happy having you as a father!” Maya said gladly, with smiles written all over her face.
In a haste to leave the house, Samuel quickly hugged her, saying, “I believe in you, Maya!”

She saw her dad to the front yard, where his Cadillac was parked. As soon as the engine roared to life, Samuel waved ‘bye’ at her. A corresponding wave of ‘bye-bye’ came from Maya as she saw him drive off to work.

The holidays were over, and for Maya, it was time to resume school…
To her, it meant spending time with her fellow pupils. Maya couldn’t wait to see her friends Elizabeth, Tara, and Maria, especially during school break time and after classes got out. In the next three days, Samuel had to make plans to ensure that the beginning of Maya’s school year went smoothly… It was successful, and went as planned–a new Adidas designer child-sized bag, a pair of shoes, stockings, and the payment of her term’s school fees were put together by Samuel two weeks before resumption.

Chapter Two
St. John’s Baptist Primary School held a special assembly to start the New Year. The pupils, teachers and other members of staff were ready to get to classes and to work, and the school drummers were on hand to usher them to their appropriate places after the various announcements. After the school’s and country’s anthems were recited by the pupils, in a twenty-by-seven space arrangement, with each teacher present standing opposite each column of pupils (except for one, who stood behind the principal), the school’s next activities were announced by the principal, Mr. Dean Herbs:
“We are glad to welcome you back after a two-month-long break. How was your holiday? I hope you spent it well with your family. Did you enjoy your holiday with your family? I believe you all did! As for me, I enjoyed mine. And I hope the same went for you, the teachers!
Now we are here to resume for the term. Class 5 has a new head teacher. She is standing right behind me, and will introduce herself properly when the classes begin. For this term, each class will have a total of twenty-eight students. On my list are names of pupils who are members of Class 5 of 1991/1992 session-our senior class. They are Spencer Hill, Makalele Thompson, Maya Isaacs, William Grants, Elizabeth Tate, Shan Craig, Tara Cole, Van Gore, Pierre Decamps, Maria Russell, El-Mohammed Raheem, Tanka Arawak, Bode Da Silva and Carlos Santana. I took my time to mention them because they are the ‘special ones’. They are the ones you, their juniors, should be looking up to for academic excellence.
In the next two weeks, we will be calling out on this ground names of those who have yet to pay their term’s tuition fees. Therefore, ensure that you inform your parents about this so that they pay before or on the date. The date will be Monday, next week. To avoid being shown the exits of the school, please, do not forget to tell your parents and guardians at home about this.
As I end the announcement, I want all of the pupils of class 5 to march to their classes in a straight line. Then, Classes 4, 3, 2 and 1 will follow in a similar and orderly manner. If there are any further announcements, your head teacher will communicate them to you.
First, I will take my leave, and Class 5 will go next. Others will follow suit.
Drummers, play the drums as we all sing the song ‘For Learning is better than silver and gold’.”
Immediately after the principal took his leave and headed straight to his office, everyone marched enthusiastically to his or her classroom and office, singing the song:
“We are going to our classes with clean handsome faces
To do as what we are taught
For learning is better than silver and gold
For Le…arning
Is Better
Than Silver
And Gold!”
The new head teacher went with the principal to get the lesson plans for the class. Meanwhile, the Class 5 pupils were all settled, awaiting the arrival of their new head teacher.
She eventually came through the door. The moment she stood at the front to go into the business of the day, the class captain, Maria Russell, said sharply, “All stand and greet!”
“Good morning! You’re welcome to our class!! God bless you!!!” were the remarks made to the new teacher by the rest, who were standing after Maria’s “All stand and greet” command.
Amazed at what she saw, the new head teacher couldn’t help but clap her hands as a way of recognizing their conduct.
“Please, do have your seats!” she pleaded, seeing that they were all standing at ease, staring at her. “This is my first time coming to this class. But you’ve made me seem like I have always been here. I’m so proud of you!”
As the pupils sat back down, she continued, “Before I go into what we have for today, I would like to know something about each and every one of you. I will call you out from your seat to where I am standing and you will tell the class your name and age. I want to identify your faces properly. After which, you will return to your seat. So let’s get started! Starting from you…” Her right hand pointed at Maya, then the rest of the pupils.
“I am Maya Isaacs. I will be eleven years of age two days from now.”
“Great!” she exclaimed. “That’s good to know. I look forward to celebrating your birthday!!”
“My name is Maria Russell. I’m ten years old.”
“Okay,” noted the new head teacher.
“I’m Elizabeth Tate. I am nine years old.”
“I go by the name Tara Cole. I’m eleven years of age.”
“I like your confidence. I think you’ll make a better class captain!” the teacher observed.
“I’m Van Gore. I am ten years old.”
“My name is Pierre Decamps. I am nine years old.”
“I’m El-Mohammed Raheem. I will be eleven next month.”
“It’s good to know I’ll be celebrating your birthday with you!” the teacher remarked.
“I am Spencer Hill. I am ten years old.”
“Makalele Thompson is my name. I am eleven years old.”
“My name is William Grants. I am nine years old.”
“I am Carlos Santana. I’m ten years old.”
“My name is Tanka Arawak. I am eleven years old.”
“Bode Da Silva is my name. I am ten years of age.”
“I’m Shan Craig. I am nine years old.”
After ensuring that all were seated and settled, the teacher told the class, “I’m the happiest woman on earth! Do you know why? I know that I have brilliant students who will understand what I have to teach. Again, I’m very proud of you all! I’m happy to be at the best primary school in Durban, and I am happy to be a teacher here. And I know for sure you all are happy to be here too.”
She looked down at her papers. “I will be your Elementary Social Studies teacher. Let’s go straight to what I have to teach you today, since we are short on time. I want you to take out your pen and notebook from your bag and place them on the desk.”
The pupils did as instructed. They were prepared to write what she had to offer them. But one thing still kept them in the dark; she had yet to disclose her name.
Realizing that they were not really settled, she decided to open up. “Before I start to write on the board, I know you are wondering who I am. Yes, you deserve to know the name of your head teacher. I go by the name Miss Sandra Brooks. You can address me as Miss Sandra. Having said that, let’s go straight to what we have today.”
They were settled and prepared to listen to what Miss Sandra had to teach them. Taking the marker in her right hand and directly facing the board, she wrote the topic, “What is Marriage?” Miss Sandra turned to the class the moment she was done writing.
“Write this topic in your notebooks, and then look up here,” she told the pupils. “Today, we will be discussing ‘What is Marriage?’ I want to know who amongst you know what marriage is.”
Six hands were raised. Spencer, Elizabeth, Maria, Pierre, Shan and Makalele had their hands all raised to answer the question. Maya, however, did not. She thought she knew all there was to know in the world. But she was confused that she wasn’t able to answer the question.
Miss Sandra was very efficient with her time, so she chose to find out what they had to say about the topic, one after the other. This would give them information to talk about quickly.
“I can see six hands raised! The six of you will answer the question, starting with you. Spencer.”
“Marriage is the union between a man and woman, when they become husband and wife.”
“That’s a good definition, Spencer,” Miss Sandra remarked. “Elizabeth, it’s your turn.”
“Marriage is an institution that has a man and woman being united for life as husband and wife.”
“Class, give Elizabeth a round of applause!” Miss Sandra instructed. As the clapping sounds died down, she went on. “Your turn, Maria.”
“My dad taught me that marriage is a name, where a man is actually called a ‘MR.’ and a woman called ‘MRS.’”
“I have not heard of this definition before,” the teacher said, somewhat amused. “Your dad must be a typical marriage counselor.” She smiled at Maria, then said, “You’re next, Tanka.”
“Marriage is the meeting point where a man meets his choice of woman, only to be called husband and wife.”
Miss Sandra exclaimed, “You kids are amazing. You are the most brilliant pupils I’ve ever taught.” She moved on. “Next is Makalele.”
“Marriage is a God-given opportunity for a man and woman to carry out his and her obligation to give birth and avoid immoral behaviors.”
“Makalele, who taught you this?” she asked in utter amazement.
“It’s my mom and dad who taught me in our Church in Soweto,” Makalele replied, feeling happy at the way Miss Sandra nodded her head in agreement.
“They must be indeed Christian counselors. I am beginning to learn from you all, especially Makalele’s outstanding definition,” she said. “Last but not the least—Pierre.
“Marriage is the togetherness between a man and woman to become husband and wife.”
Maya kept staring at them because of how they each answered the question, and how Miss Sandra applauded them. Answering questions from previous class teachers wasn’t new to Maya, but this time she wasn’t able to answer Miss Sandra’s question like the rest. That got her concerned. This husband-and-wife idea… Questions welled up concerning ‘the missing link’ of her life…her mother.
“Good!” exclaimed Miss Sandra, who liked the simplicity of his definition. She continued. “To be honest, you have made me proud and my teaching very easy. No wonder the principal was very particular about your class. Give yourselves a hand!”

After the applause died down, she instructed those who had answered, “Please sit down now. You’ve correctly defined what marriage is. Now, let’s do a little activity. If you live with your father and mother, stand up.”
Spencer, Maria, Pierre, Tanka, Elizabeth, Bode and Shan stood up. Miss Sandra knew that their parents were still married, to say the least. She said, “So, there are only seven pupils living with their fathers and mothers. It means that half of the class is living with their fathers and mothers. Okay! If you are living with your guardians, please stand up!”
Tara Cole, El-Mohammed and William Grant stood up. Miss Sandra believed that they were the only ones in the class who were exceptions.
It became glaring that Maya became the odd one. At first, she thought Maya’s parents were either divorced or separated. However, all she wanted was to know whom she was actually living with. She asked, “Maya are you living with your father or mother?”
“I am living with my father. I don’t know who my mother is or where she is,” replied Maya.
Miss Sandra felt like she had just dug the ground for them to be swallowed. She knew it was embarrassing, from seeing the look on her face. But in order not to let the rest of the class notice, she picked up the marker and a notebook she kept on her table, and faced the board.
“Class,” she instructed, “please write down what I’m putting on the board.” She wrote down three different meanings of marriage:
Marriage is the union and agreement between two people, primarily a man and woman. It is an agreement which is brought about by the oath of togetherness sworn at a special altar. This is to be binding by law and by the belief system the couple is identified with.
Marriage can appear in the following ways:
1) Monogamous Marriage
2) Polygamous Marriage
3) Polyandry

Monogamous Marriage

This is a form of marriage that involves a man marrying ONLY one woman. In this marriage, a man is only allowed to marry one woman and is expected to live with her for the rest of his life till death parts them. Christian marriages are typical examples. A Christian man is mandated by the law as interpreted as an oath of togetherness at the church’s (or temple’s) altar.

Polygamous Marriage
This marriage permits a man to marry as many wives as he wishes. Provided he has what it takes to take care of the women he wants to marry, he is not restricted to marry ONE woman. A Muslim man is entitled to more than one wife only if he has what it takes to care for them all. This may include money, clothes, feeding, shelter, care or attention and time.

Polyandry
This is a form of marriage that permits a woman to marry as many men as she wishes. Unlike polygamous and monogamous marriages, where men are expected to pay the bride price, women pay the groom price for the men they want to marry. This marriage form is practiced in Tibet.

There are different kinds of religious marriages all over the world. They include Christian, Islamic, Hindu, Buddhist, and others. Religious marriages vary based on beliefs and rites. In Africa, the three most common religious marriages are Christian, Islamic and traditional. A Christian marriage has to do with the union of a man and woman as husband and wife, using the Holy Bible, while the Islamic marriage has to do with the union of a man and woman (or women as the case may be) as husband and wives according to the Koran. Traditional marriages vary, depending on culture.

As she finished writing, she noticed the time. “Oh!” she exclaimed, and quickly explained to the class that she would have to leave early. “Ensure that you copy what has been written on the board, read it at home, discuss it with your parents, and bring it back in the morning.” She dropped her marker, grabbed her lesson case, and headed towards the Staff Room.

Maya and her classmates had other subjects the rest of the day. And at the close of school, Maya and her colleagues waited at the school’s garden for their parents and guardians to pick them up. It wasn’t long till her dad drove by. She ran towards him, squeezing and hugging him tightly as she shouted excitedly, “Daddy, how are you?!”

“I’m fine! How was school?”

“School was fun!” Maya answered. “I learned something I have never known before. It’s about marriage. We got a new teacher and she is good! Daddy, she gave us an assignment that I have to discuss with you.”

Maya was looking more than happy to tell him all that happened at school, but Samuel wasn’t concerned with what she had to say—he had had a stress-filled day at work. Maya’s delight met with Samuel’s ‘there-is-no-time-to-waste-here’ look.

Not minding the look on his face, Maya started, “Dad, school was…”

“Let’s go home,” Samuel interrupted, “We’ll talk about it when we get there.”

“Okay, Dad!”

They both got into the car and left for home. Two hours later, Maya took her notebook and was reading. After observing his usual afternoon rest, Samuel joined her in the sitting room. Seeing that his daughter’s attention was buried in what she was reading, he was drawn to what was so enthralling. Letting her know that he was in the sitting room, he said aloud, “Very good, Maya! I am glad to see that you are doing your assignments. You told me you were going to discuss with me what you learned in school. You also mentioned that you now have a new school teacher. I’m available to discuss with you what you’ve learned.” He smiled at her. “To start with, who is that new teacher?”

Maya was happy that her father was interested, and she responded, “The name of my new teacher is Miss Sandra Brooks. But she told us to address her as Miss Sandra. She asked us our names and ages. It was fun! We introduced ourselves. She was impressed at our conduct. Then, she went to the topic of the day, ‘What is Marriage?’ By the way, she is our new Social Studies teacher.”

Maya gave her dad a troubled look. “Daddy, I wasn’t able to raise my hand because I didn’t know the answer. There were only six of us that knew what marriage was. I was the only one who stood up when asked if I wasn’t living with our fathers and mothers. Daddy, I want to ask you–what is marriage?”

At first, he looked disturbed. But he summoned the courage to tell what he wanted her to know. “My dear, marriage is a point in life where someone has to decide to be with one man or woman for the rest of their life as husband and wife. In marriage, you have to know how to live happily with your man or woman so that things will go on well as planned.

He paused and sighed. “I’ll have to stop here because you are too young to understand this.”

“Daddy,” she asked, holding tightly to her notes, “Who is my mother and why is she not living with us?”

Shocked to the marrow, Samuel held his breath for some seconds and looked around, wondering what to say. He could not think of anything. But he knew he had to answer the questions. He had no choice!

With Maya’s eyes staring at him, craving answers, Samuel wasn’t able to think of a clever answer.

He answered, “Hmmm…,” scratching his chin. Then he continued, “Maya, you see, your mom and I are not living together for some reasons that are beyond your understanding. Your mother, I believe, is alive and she is somewhere around Lesotho or Zimbabwe. She’ll be coming soon! In fact, sooner than you expect!” He saw that his reply satisfied her, which brought him a temporary sigh of relief. However, he knew that Judgment Day was just around the corner. Samuel knew that if he didn’t tell her all she needed to know about her true self, and soon, his world would be in shambles in the future!

The Limitation of Man’s Love, The Greatness of God’s Love

Genre: Christian Fiction -Short story collection

Synopsis

The love of man is limited to the understanding of the five senses and subject to change. As a matter of fact, man’s love is transient-it is subject to change-events, people and other factors generally tend to affect man’s love.It appears strong at first, but when the slightest of circumstances creeps in, its bedrock of understanding is really destroyed! Man’s search for true love has in fact turned out to be elusive; hence, brought him to a state of confusion. However, God’s love is not only boundless and selfless; its greatness knows no equal. It is never conditional or subject to change; it endures the test of time.

Excerpts

The love of man is limited to the understanding of the five senses and subject to change. As a matter of fact, man’s love is transient-it is subject to change-events, people and other factors generally tend to affect man’s love.It appears strong at first, but when the slightest of circumstances creeps in, its bedrock of understanding is really destroyed! Man’s search for true love has in fact turned out to be elusive; hence, brought him to a state of confusion. However, God’s love is not only boundless and selfless; its greatness knows no equal. It is never conditional or subject to change; it endures the test of time. His love can never be destroyed, broken nor interrupted but is ever at its peak and always great; unconditionally. God’s outstretched arm of love is real and available to all…

Therefore, the work, “The Limitation of Man’s Love, The Greatness of God’s Love (A Compilation of Short Stories)” explains why God’s love is great and man’s love is limited.“The Limitation of Man’s Love”has two sub-titles; “In Search of Love” and “Love: Long Lost But Now Found” while “Back to God” and “I Have Found God’s Love” are the sub-titles of “The Greatness of God’s Love.”

Interestingly, “I Have Found God’s Love!” is God’s intervention to “In Search of Love…”, the story of  crippled Tyler, delivered by a minister of God from the clutches of sin-lust, smoking and drinking-what he thought would bring him happiness, resulting from the failures of his love tactics towards having for  relationships the young women he admired.

“Love: Long Lost But Now Found” tells the story of Paul whose love life, once lost but later found,  and who, despite his fifteen years of marriage to his wife, Juliana, is still being affected by circumstances…That is how far man’s love can get! On the other hand, “Back to God” and “I Have Found God’s Love” tells the stories of how great and unconditional His love is towards His people, even when they don’t deserve it.

The Greatness of God’s Love, as this work acknowledges, is in His grace by Christ Jesus, whose blood was shed for the world-including YOU!   In all, No love can take the place of The Greatness of God’s Love!

The Limitation of Man’s Love…In Search of Love…

The BACKGROUND

Born and raised in Calgary, Tyler’s predicament sought the need for attention of his loving single mother, Grace. Having to raise the wheelchair-bound Tyler for over fourteen years was difficult for Grace, who had two jobs-teaching and factory work. Despite the challenge, she gave her son what the best of companionship. Since birth, Grace made it a number priority of being there for her son, regardless of how busy she was with her job.

Tyler had a successful nursery and primary school education. He wasn’t the dull type. His intelligence attracted his classmates to him, though he was fun to be with, only once in a blue moon. His peers, male and female pupils of his class, liked him. Alas, he felt incompleteness-the state of his crippled legs and his wheelchair-bound status. His unhappy mood seldom put at armslenght his friends away from him. But this attracted the attention of his class teacher; he would do his very best to instill in him what he deserved-happiness.

However, this would be short-lived as home for Tyler meant only being attended to by his mom but pushed aside by his neighbors. His mom’s efforts to make him ‘equal’ with his contemporaries, neighbors inclusive, were abortive. As Tyler grew older, his confidence and natural exuberance dwindled when he realized he wasn’t able to what able-bodied juveniles were doing. This affected his relationship with his peers, especially the female ones. But someone, who, from childhood, had always accepted Tyler the way he had been, was…Thomas.

It was during his senior years at Calgary Secondary School Tyler saw the need to fall in love…with the opposite sex.  Although Thomas would be prove useful to him in a way, his predicament wouldn’t help matters! Tyler looked forward to the time in his life when the ‘right woman’ would love him for who he is, accept his physical predicament, be in a serious relationship with him and possibly work the aisle with him. But the more Tyler searched for her, the more she kept eluding him!

The FULL STORY

Chapter One

Sitting adjacent to Thomas as they, together with the twenty-member class waited for the Mathematics teacher, Mr. Clem.

“Tyler, did you watch the movie, “The Alien Love” on Movie Channel yester-night?”

“No!” excited Tyler replied. “What time was it shown?”

“8:00PM”

“Oh…I was listening to some R N B musicals on Music Channel at that time. I guess I missed a lot…right?”

“Tyler, YOU MISSED A GREAT DEAL!” Thomas stressed. “Where do I begin to tell the story? Do I start from the beginning or the middle or the very end?! Hmmm…boy, you missed a whole lot!”

“Okay…Thomas! I know you watched the movie and you know quite well the story…Could you please tell begin the story? You know we have some time before Mr. Clem begins his Mathematics teaching period”

“I see…It’s quite a long story but I’d have to make it short. But Tyler, you’d need to watch the movie in full to know what I’m saying”

“Just begin, man!” Tyler urged. “You know I’m excited hearing stories that have to do with Aliens and more important, love! Let me hear it, Thomas!”

“The earth was attacked suddenly by aliens whose mission was to make the earth their footstools. Assigned by their master, Kin, they were to wipe out of extinction the entirety of the human race on earth, acquire the precious lands, nature and patterns that made the earth peculiar from their world. In numbers, they descended from their spaceship and began the process of annihilation…men, women, boys and girls, plants, animals, moving and non-moving objects were all destroyed

The Aliens tortured the men to death; most women were raped and then killed. All that the earth cherished was cherished was wiped away in one sweep! Fire gutted the buildings of erected in all parts of the earth-Africa, America, Europe, Asia and other parts of the earth witness unimagined infernos-humans, plants, animals, buildings, monumental structures all suddenly became ruins.

But one of the Aliens was showing some compassion over Whitney, a nineteen-year-old Californian. The other attacking aliens killed her parents, two siblings and her dog. Somehow, the Alien, X, as he later disclosed to Whitney, created an escape from the sight of others.

Thomas, it’s quite a long story… But to cut the whole long story short, X would later fall in love with Whitney. Whitney found it unimaginable to fall in love with a non-human stranger at first. But after the wiping out of what was on earth and the ‘coming-back-home’ of the aliens, Whitney gradually gave in to X. The interesting side of the story was that the complete take-over of the earth by the aliens wasn’t to be because the more X made love to Whitney, the more distorted their subsequent plans to continue what they’ve started!  Although the earth was in a desolate state, the confusion among the aliens and their master, Kin, made it impossible to complete their mission. Of course, thanks to the loving making between Whitney and X!

More interesting was the more X made love to Whitney, the more human he transformed to. As time progressed, X became more human, though he gets to shape-shifts to his Alien form when he loses his cool!

Because they were the only survivors on planet earth, they began to procreate….And in time, the earth regain her glory…peoples, houses, animals, buildings, plants, inventions, all manner of moving and non-moving objects. This was made possible by the power of creation by the Source!”

“Wow! An interesting story it was, Thomas” Reacted Tyler, who had problems sitting properly on his wheelchair because of what he had. “What interested me the most was how Whitney was able to love a non-human…An Alien for that matter!”

“Tyler, love doesn’t identify if you’re human or not…It concern is do you have it in you…”

“Well…It’s worth thinking about…Back to what I was saying! If an alien like X could find love in hands of a pretty Whitney, can’t I, the wheelchair-bound Tyler, find this love?”

“Yes, you can! Only if you can have love in you…”

“How can I, Thomas, have love in me when the people I want to show this love to avoid me?”

“I know it’s not been easy with you all through the years. We’ve been friends since childhood. I know how you’ve been feeling not being loved by others around you. But please, friend, just be patience and in time, you’ll get a woman who’d love you for who you are…”

“For how long? When I’m old, aged or not being able to function at all? The world is a kidding place!”

The conversation between Tyler and Thomas was over. The all-the-while noisy class suddenly became quiet the moment Mr. Clem came in to observe his mathematics teaching period.

The Limitation of Man’s Love…In Search of Love…

Chapter Two

Tyler was in at second level of his Senior Secondary School Year when he convinced himself of the need to be in a relationship with the girl he has feelings for…Jade. Thomas was on hand to help with matters of his heart…

“Tyler, you’ve been disturbing me about Jade. I think this is the time for you to approach her. You can see she’s sitting in front of us.” Thomas whispered.

“I agree! I really want to have her…Thomas; do you think it’s possible for me to have her?”

“Sure! Only if you believe…”

“I think I’ll make the move right now! Please, if you don’t mind, friend, let me be on my way…”

“All the best, Tyler! I’ll be at the school’s Play Ground…then, after the break, we’ll talk!”

Thomas left the class. Tyler wheeled his way towards where Jade sat. At first timid, Tyler summoned the courage to begin the talk…

“Hello” Tyler greeted, looking a bit tensed.

“Hi” replied Jade, showing indifference

“Right from the first day I set my eyes on you, I had been admiring you and as luck would have it, you have been my classmate from one class to the other and till now…I looked forward to when you’ll become…”

Tyler was lost for the right word. Jade realized it.

“Yes, Tyler…you looked forward to when I’ll become your girlfriend. Is that what you wanted to say?”

“Ye…s” Tyler stuttered, appearing frightened.

Jade took a thorough look at Tyler; from the crown of his head down to the soul of his crippled feet, bound to the wheel chair.

“You’re amazing” she chuckled. “Do you think I’ll stoop so low to go out with you? Please, take a good look at yourself before talking to me! I thought you had something very serious to discuss with me only to disturb my peaceful reading of Mills and Boom with your crappy request! Don’t feel insulted, looking at you, I wish to decline your request! I can’t go out with you! Besides, Yale is my boyfriend, more handsome and complete, not like you!”

Tyler felt the whole world crashing on him. He respectfully wheeled his chair back to where he was sited- at the back of the classroom. He placed his head on the desk and took a sober mood till Thomas came.

“Buddy, how did it go with Jade? By the way, why place your head on the desk?”

“Thank goodness you’re here! Jade used my looks to insult me!”

“Oh…Friend! I thought Jade would understand…But women, can they really understand?”

“Guess what, Thomas?”

“What?!”

“I’ll let the whole wide world know that there is ability in disability when I engage myself in my first-ever relationship with the cutest girl ever!”

“That’s the spirit, Tyler! The never-say-never, never-say-die attitude…That’s the character that drives great people towards reaching their goals! Tyler, you can do it! I believe in you! I’m with you all the way! You’re a great person…your never-give-up character is driving you towards meeting the right woman!”

“Yes! Because I was given a ‘no’ response by Jade doesn’t meet the end of the road for me. There are still more doors waiting for me to open! And I’ll! In fact the journey has started!”

“Like I said, I’m with you all the way!”

Miss Sandra began her Physics teaching period shortly afterwards.

Life’s Twists

The synopsis, genre, excerpt and link are contained in Life’s Twists, an ebg27.com publication.

Synopsis

Life’s Twists parades a series of stories that conveys the influence of ‘twists’ in the lives of people; negatively and positively. This collection of story titles shows changes in the fates of people who ought to have reaped what they have sown but, in the process, make others suffer the good or evil of the same fates or better yet, situational twists. In other words, what ordinarily should be the case of sowing and reaping by those who engendered them becomes the cross of the ‘innocent’! It agrees with Mark Rucksayer: “our universe is made of stories, not atoms”.

Genre: Short story collection, life stories

Excerpt

Introduction

The work-piece narrates twists in the ordeals of people all around the world. Ranging from personal to professional, educational to business, political to ministerial endeavors, it explores the situations of individuals whose plights fall under them.

Life’s Twists is a seven-chapter material that portrays “situational twists”- what ordinarily should be the case of sowing and reaping by those who engendered them becomes the cross of the ‘innocent’!

Reflecting that the world, since its emergence, had had great affinity for stories, it depicts a matrix of stories that appeal to all peoples of the world because of its peculiarity. Asians, Americans, Europeans, Africans, the Arabs and so forth have their stories mirrored in the literary identity, “Life’s Twists”

The Mirror of Tragic Marriage, the title of the first chapter, is a tragic story, hinged on the stretch of twists that linger as a result of marital breakdown (divorce) from the time of parents to the existence of their children as adults. An account documented by Daniel, friends with Sophia, twin sister to Cindy and whose diary birth the story title, the divorce that eventually ended the marriage between Tom and Cynthia, parents to Sophia and Cindy, was mirrored in the lives of their two daughters who did not leave to enjoy their relationships.

Chapter Two’s “The Graced Fellow” paints a story of a crime-turn-love situation involving a group of armed bandits known as the Notorious Circle. They operated in Lagos, Abuja and Port-Harcourt areas of Nigeria. Killing industrialists, merchants, politicians and raping young women epitomized their robbery operations. Individually from the Republic of South Africa and Central African Republic, Moroccan, Cameroonian, Liberian, Kenyan and Nigerian and all residing in Lagos, Nigeria, the seven-man gang became a household name through the nineties. Coming from wealthy backgrounds except for Bode with a twist in his plight, they all had their fill days until the long hands of the law caught up with them. But something happened to Bode…

“The Other Side of Education”, Chapter Three’s title, describes the twists in the fate of Ken and Spencer who had their education at the Kent High School, London England. The former was said to be in the words of Mark Fisher “…a misfortune to mankind”. The latter had all going his way-intelligence and influence. However, Ken would reason that being an “F” in class would not necessarily mean being a failure in life. This would be his motivation throughout his travels till he finally settled in his home, Canterbury, New Zealand after he made it in the business of oil.   While, Spencer, on the other hand, had it all rosy in England, his home country, until financial crisis took a hold on him. This situation created a twist – brought Spencer to his back-in-High-School second-fiddle and then “nobody” Ken after many years and another development came up.

“The Woman In Politics” is Chapter four’s title that depicts the political tussle between Rodriguez and Gloria of the Peoples Party and Empowerment Party respectively. Through politically motivated maneuvers at the expense of her already-wining-by-votes Rodriguez, Gloria stepped out to becoming the first-elected female president of Brazil. The twist first came in favor of Gloria when she was quoted as saying: “…A man has his will but a woman will always have her way…”  In time, “…When there is a will there is a way…” became a favorable twist to Rodriguez when it got to his turn…Lisbon, Portugal and Madrid, Spain where places well known to them.

Chapter Five’s “The Evil Genius” narrates a story of how Park Sung, Korean-American, intended to set the record as the first man to embark on a successful world religious tour. With the P.A.G.A.N movement being set up at twenty one, he had gathered the knowledge about trickery, hypnosis and studied extensively world geography at a certain price…to DEAL with his uncle and master, Jin. For over the next thirty years of his life, he would achieve his agenda until there was a total twist in his blueprint plan!

Chapter Six’s “The Ugly Decision” reports a story of man, David. Growing up under the watchful eyes of his parents who were disciplinarians in Canada, he promised to live a faithful life. However, as he grew older, he became a shadow of what he promised-Promiscuity took a better of him. Due to that, David was unable to settle down in marriage early as did his parents. In fact, during his growing years, he vowed never to have anything in common with the promiscuous Eunice but something happened between them years later…

“The Learning Authoress” is the last chapter’s title. It gives the story of years of rejections by several publishers of the work “The Twists of Life” by Alice, a Greco-Roman American. As time went on in her search for a publisher, one thing lead to the other that brought her in personal contact with Skyline Publishers-the first publisher that rejected her work outright! She became a household name in the whole of California, USA.

Author’s Note: This work is borne out of the imaginations of the author. Any life stories with similar tones with any of these are co-incidental. The author therefore apologizes for that.

Chapter 1

The Mirror of Tragic Marriage

June 15, 1948…

“I regretted the day I got married to you!” Tom shouted at Cynthia, his wife of seven years.

In response to Tom’s words, she yelled: “you are total disgrace to manhood! I’ve been accommodating your excesses for years! It’s time for me to rage because you’ve pushed me to the wall! You are an idiot! You are a never do-well! You are an infidel! In fact, you are hopeless!! I’m still married to you because of my twins-Sophia and Cindy!!!”

In the heat of altercation, Tom took laws into his hands by beating Cynthia to a pulp. It took the intervention of neighbors to bring to a halt the uproar. To add insult to injury, Tom didn’t bat an eyelid as he, in the presence of his tears-shedding twin daughters, was beating the living daylight of Cynthia. Alas, the damage was done as Cynthia was second to dead; she hardly could breathe. As a result, she had to be rushed to a hospital; a stone throw from the residence of the couple.

Tom and Cynthia have been lovers since their days at the Washington-based University of Kimberly. As easy-going lovebirds, they became the cynosure of every Tom, Dick and Harry who came in contact with them. After completing the stipulated academic sessions, Tom and Cynthia qualified as medical doctor and accountant respectively. He got employed at the prestigious Stanford Hospital as Residing Medical Officer and after a while, she was employed as Chief Accountant by the renowned Paterson Accounting firm. It wasn’t too long that they decided to tie the nuts. Many months after the one-in-town marriage ceremony, Cynthia was delivered of a set of female twins, whom they later named Sophia and Cindy. Both Tom and Cynthia were enjoying their professions.

The passion, intelligence and success philosophies edged Tom and Cynthia over their colleagues in their various endeavors. Work went on as usual for Tom until a fateful Friday morning… This would be most red-lettered moment in the life of Tom.

It was reported that there were missing medical equipment worth millions of dollars. This, according to audit report, showed a huge imbalance in the hospital’s account summary. Concerned the management was, the attention of Tom was urgently sought for. They inquired of him as to why the equipment were missing, since it was his onus as Residing Medical Officer, to ensure their safety. Unknown to him, there was a conspiracy against him by his colleagues who envied his progress and excellence.

However, this would not necessarily matter as he was given matching orders by tendering his resignation with no pay-off, despite his five years of service. His explanations were blurred as naivety took the best of him. The management reasoned that Tom’s weight of excuse for not been responsible for the missing equipment and a consequent need for exoneration didn’t hold waters. It wasn’t too long after his resignation that Mark, the chief conspirator of his misfortune, was appointed to fill the position previously held by him. Although Tom would be justified and compensated heavily in a distant future, his life assumed a U-turn.

From pillar to post, Tom job-hunted. He went the extra-mile of contacting his friends who were top guns in their fields of recognition. Yet, it all ended in a wild goose chase!  Frustration so possessed Tom that he retired to incessant drinking, smoking, womanizing, keeping late nights and lazing around. Cynthia, now shouldering the weight of the family responsibilities, had to stretch her working limits. She engaged herself in entrepreneurial marketing after the close of her eight-to-four working hours, daily. She did all these to ensure ends met…

Life In Space

This is one work title the author wants to present-in terms of its genre, synopsis, excerpts and link.

Genre: sci-fi, space travel, supernatural, adventure

Synopsis

What becomes of you after what ought to be a nine years of travel in space became ninety years? Kyle, the lead astronaut, was no doubt a victim of this ugly circumstance. The Three Musketeers, a they were known over the world, traveled through the eight other planets to encounter completely different situations. After he and his team (Michael and Stanley) landed the earth from his spaceship, he was really left with nothing other than to say: “facts are stranger than fiction” How did they survive through the ninety years of sojourn in the planetary worlds? What became of them?

Excerpt

In The Beginning…

“When I grow up, I’d like to be the first man to travel the nine planets of the universe”, said seven-year-old Kyle to his friends, Michael and Stanley, close neighbors with him in Santa Barbara, California.

“I agree with you, Kyle!” replied Michael, who couldn’t but help to express his puerile enthusiasm with his friend. “Very soon, we…Michael, you and me, will, when will grow up as men, make history as the first set of astronauts to travel the whole of the planets. I was told by Aunt Susie that no astronaut had achieved this.  But we will! Kyle and Stanley, I can’t wait for this great feat!”

“I’m with you! In fact, how I wish the hands of time could, like the speed of light, move so fast that we become young adults”, Seven-year-old Stanley, age mates with Michael and Kyle, wished.

After a long period of discussion at the famous Santa Barbara Playground, stone throw away from their homes, they are returned to their homes to observe the regular night sleep against school the next day.

While at the school, Mr. Bean Sanders, the Basic Science teacher of the class, came to the class, well-dressed and smart-looking. To the board, he positioned his body and with the coated ball pen in his hands, the activity of the day began…

“Class, today, we will discuss on the topic The Planets” Mr. Bean asserted, taking a very stern look at the 20-pupil class. Before now, I have instructed that you read ahead of the class, ask your parents at home questions on the areas you don’t understand. This is how I want to teach you all. I don’t want to be like your other teachers who are fond of pampering you as if you were babies! To me, you’re not! With that in mind, I want to know who read this topic. Indicate, by raising your right hand if you know the answer to the following questions

1) How many planets do we have in the universe?

2) Name them” Mr. Bean thought that none of the pupils in his class would answer.

Surprisingly, he saw with his eyes the hands of Kyle, Michael and Stanley all raised up to answer the question. Confused he was at first but sought a way of making things happen.

“Hey, Michael”, instructed Mr. Bean, “you’ll answer the first question and Kyle will handle the next the question”.

“There are nine planets in the universe” Michael enthusiastically answered.

“Great!” Mr. Bean exclaimed, “Michael answered it correctly”. Now it’s your turn…Kyle to answer the next question”

“The nine planets that make the universe are Mars, Venus, Earth, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, Pluto and Mercury” Kyle answered, though appeared a bit scared of Mr. Bean’s strict look at him.

“Yes, both Kyle and Michael got the answers all correct! Class, give them a round of applause as they take to their seats!” The clapping hands of the pupils produced high supersonic sounds that overwhelmed Mr. Bean

“Quite, please!” he exclaimed, trying to let his pupils to stop clapping.” From now on, because of their intelligence and long-time friendship, I’ve been looking a time as this to give them a name I’d like to identify them with, rather than their individual names. Class, we are addressing the trio of Michael, Kyle and Stanley as the Three Musketeers! Now repeat after me: The Three Musketeers!

The class chanted:  “The Three Musketeers!”

Interestingly, the class ended with little furtherance on the topic. And from then on, the Three Musketeers, as they were called, grew up together as teenagers and became young adults till the history-making event took place. It was at that point that they knew the difference between what they have learnt in school through the years and what can be seen as “obtainable” under real-life situations.

Chapter One

Twenty Years Later… June 7, 1998

“This is a great department. We have no doubt produced the best of astronauts. Jake. K. Land, John. G. Bean, Gary Cliff and a host of others have made the department of Astronomy indeed envy to its contemporaries through their ground-breaking feats. Going back to the establishment of the Capes Institute of Global Astronomy, situated in Ipswich, Massachusetts, we can see for ourselves that there are a number of reasons we should enroll our wards into this institution of higher learning. At this point, ladies and gentlemen, let’s be on our fit and put our hands together as we declare open the Graduation Ceremony of Class 1998”. A statement made by Dr. Charles .L. Grant, the institute’s registrar, magnified by the use of the echoing microphone.

“Wooooooow……! Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa…..” and complimentary clapping sounds made by the attendees at the event became the aftermath. Spotted in the audience were Kyle, Michael, Stanley, Catherine, Kyle’s girlfriend, Tracy, Stanley’s so-called ‘sweetheart’, Helen, Michael’s Heartthrob and thirty of their colleagues, occupying the first row of seats while others, friends, family members and well-wishers occupied from the second column and row to the fifteenth in a eight-by-nine manner.

After five minutes of heated excitement, calm eventually returned. Realizing it was okay to continue, Dr. Charles, as he’s fondly called, went on: “ Without much ado, we are here not only to officially assert the graduation of our beloved students at the Master’s Level, but also recognize three most outstanding students that have made this institute proud. This department is known for objective selection of best students through the years by the mechanism you and I call consistency. Evidently, the Head of Department, Dr. Lake Gore, had shown me the academic performances of these students, right from their first-degree years till present. Believe me, people; they are worth considering as best students. They’ve undoubtedly edged their contemporaries through exceptional grades and excellent results in individual courses…at Bachelor and Masters Level. Again, join me, by clapping your hands and standing on your feet as I make welcome to this platform, the HOD, in the person of Dr. Lake Gore continue this talk I began…”

A thunderous ovation penetrated the atmosphere as Dr. Lake Gore stepped out from his chair, few distance away from where Dr. Charles stood. In no time, decorum was restored. Dr. Charles took his place at the platform. And in his baritone voice, he went straight to business: “Right about now, the three best students will have to be mentioned. There is a reward…A job placement at the National Space Agency. I will start from the third and finished at the first. The student that emerged the third best in this department is Michael Olsson with a ‘3.59’ Excellent grade!”

Everyone stood up, almost suffocated Michael in the name of ‘congratulations’. But somehow, he managed to squeeze  himself from them, matched forward to where his HOD stood, shook his  right hand with his and at the same took a ‘smile’ pose as used his left hand to obtain his certificate. Obviously noticed were Mrs. Maria Olsson who couldn’t help but express her joy to her only son become what he had always dreamt of and his lover, Helen, whose whispered words read: “I love you, Michael”.

Things took a twist when Dr. Lake held firmly Michael’s right hand, an indication of unfinished business. He asked Michael: “How do you feel emerging as the third best student of this department whose reputation has spanned over a hundred years?”

Confidently, Michael replied: “This is a moment in my life i’ll never forget. All through my childhood years, I have dreamt of this event as a stepping stone to the BIG PICTURE which is only exclusive to my friends and my life coach, Kyle and Stanley and Dr. Lake. At this point I would like to call out two people, aside my friends I just mentioned a while ago, that have been there through thin and thick…my mother, Mrs. Maria Olsson and Honey Pie, Miss Helen. Allow me to welcome them both!!!

Shouts of joy from the rest of the audience took the air waves as both of them stood up and hugged him each. Quite a number of photo shots were taken and the face of Michael showed that he was the happiest man on earth!

A minute after Mrs. Maria and Miss Helen headed to their respective seats, just behind Stanley and Kyle at the second row, Dr. Lake couldn’t help but express how impressed he was by his simple but yet inspiring response. “Michael, as you take your seat”, said excited Dr. Lake, taking a stern look at him, “you’ve proved to be one of the best, going by what people would term ORDIANRY statement”. “I’m really touched by what you said! Unfortunately, the ugly face of time won’t permit me to explain how well you’ve made a good account of yourself. I’ll have to move on…Please, forgive me Michael!” He said, getting his mood set to announce the second best.

“Next”, stated Dr. Lake “is the second best student. He is no other than someone you know! He graduated with an excellent grade of ‘4.00’! Ladies and Gentlemen, once again, be on your feet, jamb those hands as I make welcome Stanley Simmons!!!

Indeed, the nine-hundred attendees who filled the sunny, open-space arena, called The Main Ground witnessed thunderous sounds of applause saturating the air as Stanley Simmons, seated alongside Kyle, seated very adjacent to Michael at the front row with five others, pressed toward where Dr. Lake was and like what happened to Michael, he received the same treatment.

As Stanley hastily left for his seat, Dr. Lake asked of him how he felt about being rated the second best. He replied: “Like my brother from another mother”, Michael observed, “this is one of the greatest days of my life. My dad, Mr. Reginald Simmons, had to forfeit his busy banking schedules to attend my graduation ceremony. Not only him, my three lovely sisters- Latoya, Michelle and Antonia are all present to witness one red-lettered day moment in my life! Seated at the second row, Dad, Latoya, Antonia, Michelle and Latoya, Tracy, my sweetheart, my sincere thanks to all of you for being present!! You are more than a thousand gold mines combined to me!” He saw Tracy, with tears rolling down her cheek; mutter the words “You’ve made my day, honey!”

The audience clapped their hands as they stared at Stanley’s family members and watched him return to his seat and received hugs, one after the other, from dad to his baby sister, Antonia. Dr. Lake couldn’t help but express his excitement.

“This is great, I must confess!” remarked Dr. Lake. “In all gatherings I’ve ever stamped my presence, believe me, good people, this is the most inspiring event ever! Hmmm…if I am to properly express my observation concerning this moment, time won’t permit me. Therefore, with no any dilly-dally, I’d like to call out the overall best student…but one thing. Before I move on, this best student, together with Michaela and Stanley, have surprisingly been childhood friends for over twenty years, attended the same elementary and high school, and here they are now, graduating as tops, from the same university! This is surprising, isn’t it? Moving on…It’s a great pleasure calling out the ‘best of the best’, student of this great institute for 1998. He is the panache-talking, clear-thinking and ambitious Kyle Russell!!! I urge you to encourage him by clapping your hands as he comes on to receive his prestigious certificate!”

The words “You are the best”, “Hero”, “You’ve made us proud”, “Welldone, Kyle!”, “Neil Armstrong of our time”, “Kyle…You’re great!” and “Oh Yes, You’ve done it, wow!!” were chanted as Kyle hurriedly stepped out, after being embraced by his Michael, Stanley and other colleagues. As the intensity of fulfillment was becoming obviously seen on the face of Kyle, Dr, Lake received him warmly, hugged him and kissed him on his right and left cheek, took a pose with him and handed to Kyle his certificate.

“ I have the thirty graduates, Stanley and Michael signal the attention of their family members” said excited Dr. Lake, “But in your case, I’ll have to hand over the microphone to you to call out your family members, friends and everyone to celebrate this great feat!” He declared, handing over the MIC to Kyle.

“Thank you sir for this opportunity” responded Kyle, whose panache made the noisy crowd suddenly give way for silence when he took the microphone towards his mouth with his right hand. His certificate was on the pulpit-like structure where he somehow leaned his body against. “I’m delighted that I was opportune to have emerged the best student for this great department. It was a hard nut to crack task, trying to keep my head above the waters of stiff academic competition from my colleagues. With the encouragement of my family members and friends, whom I will call out subsequently, I made the best use of my time at this institute. Going the extra-length of studying astronomy gave me the impetus to attain where I am today. At this point, I’d like to identify ‘my people’- My parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Russell, my brother and sister, Adam and Victoria, my girlfriend, Catherine and my peeps-Michael, Stanley and all of you…you’re a part of me!” Kyle ushered in all he invited.

Chapter One

The Love of Money

‘The love of money, the Bible warns, ‘is the root of all evils’, an early-morning ministration by Craig to his family before setting out for the affairs of the day. Soon after the morning devotion was completed, the family was ready to go; Craig was well-dressed to meet pressing needs at his work place, his children wore school-mode clothes and best of corporate feminine outfit best described his wife’s dressing –prepared to face the uphill tasks to be encountered at the office where she was manager. After carrying out necessary household chores, Craig and his family mounted their ‘family’ car-Craig mounted the Driver’s seat and to his side at the right was his gorgeous wife…his children took the backseat. He drove his children to school, his wife to her work place and subsequent headed straight to his office.

Indeed, Craig was a happily married man- an elevating career, a loving wife, Sarah and four ‘wonderful’ children-two boys -Mike and John and two girls_Antoniaand Michelle.  Ahead of his time in his engineering profession, Craig, under the space of one year after his employment, got steadily promoted to a chief executive officer of his construction company, where he worked. His loving wife, Sarah, was a woman of understanding and substance; her unbridled professional image and Amazon disposition edged her contemporaries. This was reason she was positioned as manager of the humanitarian organization. His children were uniquely different. Mike, being the first child of the family, had a flair for music, though he had exceptional grades in school. John, the second child, was very good academically but had a great interest in fashion. Antonia, the first female child of the family, aspired to be a nurse, though she did exceptionally well in Math and Geography. The baby of the family, Michelle, though very loquacious, wanted just to be a good mother in future. Both Sarah and Craig cherished the most Mike because of his sense of purpose, good character and distinct voice: his voice mesmerized the listening orchestra audience in the various music events he attended, his will-power was unbridled; a ‘never-say-die’ person he was and never pride himself above his colleagues, in and out of the classroom, orchestra and school rooms, very respectful to his elders and surprisingly, his younger ones. Indeed, Mike was an epitome of good character; every Tom, Dick and Harry within the neigbourhood and regular school and orchestra music environments talked about him_he was goodness-personified!

Lived in the outskirts of Akosombo, Ghana, the magnificent duplex single-handedly built by Craig was really befitting. Under the watchful eyes of well-planted trees came the refreshing cool breeze, beautiful garden came an abode for relaxation and some light refreshment.  The large compound space gave room for John, Mike, Antonia and Michelle to play football and table tennis and afforded Craig and Sarah the opportunity for reflections at their convenient hours. The toweringgates were an assurance of beefed-up security. Around to play with were their pet dogs; Puffy and Snicky.  Uniform Painting with a blend of complementary colors added aesthetics to the building’s exterior. The interior segments were characterized by a silver-coated passage that led to the rooms occupied by Sarah and Craig and visitors/guests at the down floor. Upstairs, there were five rooms with each of their children occupying the rooms, using the extra as the store-room. Here, the passage was made of modern ceramics. Sandwiched between the living and bedrooms at the door floor was the modern standard kitchen, filled with what a kitchen should contain. The beds were well constructed to meet their sleeping demands! In short, it was a magnificent edifice!

Despite the comfort of his abode, Craig was not a materially satisfied man. He wanted to be, from the days of his youth, a man of stupendous wealth and substance, passing his father’s records of been the richest man ever in his homeland,Afflao. However, he was shown the exists by men of the underworld, disguised as transparent oil business experts, who lured him to investing his money inherited  into a white elephant project; investing in oil offshore -a scam orchestration. Craig was duped by the mischievous men. This development worsened his health predicament that it took the very intervention of his doctor friend, Khumalo and Sarah’s undying help to ‘bring back to life’ the almost dead Craig. By and large, he went through the thick and thin to ensure he acquired some fortune and with the unrelenting succor by Sarah, he earned it. Considering what he would have become if the business were genuine and pulled through, Craig, though admitting his aim of being richer than his father would have been reached, took a tough decision that he will, given the resources at his disposal, together with his wife, nurture to any lengths the well-being of their children-from infanthood to adulthood. Indeed, Craig and Sarah did succeed! The only ‘but’in the life of mike was that Craig and Sarah never observed Mike’s ‘big eyes’ for materialism. This discrepancy would tear apart the existence of every member of the family.

Mike, John, Antonia and Michelle were sent to the best of schools in the city, all through their school years from the elementary to the final tertiary stages of education. As a matter of fact, Craig and Sarah were prepared to sponsor their education up to the Masters and PhD levels. Mike graduated with a first class in financial accounting and a second class upper in classical music-minor. Antonia, not only did she come out in flying colors as best student in her department, she was a certified first-class holder in nursing. John came out tops in his class, taking with him an overall ‘grade A’ in fashion studies. Michelle, ‘the mish girl’, as she was nicknamed, scaled through the hard nut to cracks of family studies to become the best student of that department. Mike’s case was a bit penultimate in that Mike’s love for classical music was his obsession. Interested in furthering his studies in music, Craig decided to fund Mike’s two-year Masters in classical music at the London School of Music. This would change his thinking for the rest of his life…

After all necessary procurements were made, Mike set to depart the shores of Ghana to Heathrow International Airport, sojourning in Big Ben and learning an entirely different culture. Under the watchful eyes of the Romanian virtuoso, Adrian Peterscu, Mike became a force to be reckoned with in classical music, in and out of the classroom. His mastery of classical music attracted the attention of Prof. Adrian, as he was fondly called. In no time, they became best of friends. Mike would find out the person of his Romanian friend.

Adrian Peterscu was a die-hard Satanist whose fore-bears were high-level witches and wizards. His recently passed-away mom, Mia, was a satanic minister. Wealthy, of course, Adrian, through his music forte, had been initiating his students for decades into the dreaded cult known as the Hood of Dragons; a confraternity which he has been a member of since his students days and known for the best of music rendition in all genres producing great and very-wealthy instrumentalists, singers, vocalists, song writers and composers with intents of communicating via sounds reversed psycho-subliminal messages to audiences, within and outside the school campus. Through the outright worship and daily acknowledgement of devil worship, Adrian became wealthy. The initiation rites were characterized by gross blood-cuddling rituals, torture of newbies, incantations of all sorts and subsequent blood sacrifices for fame and fortune.

The broke-out war among the extra-terrestrials at the Peak of Eternal Abode over the ownership and rulership of its domain saw the Pull-down of the opposer, Illumination and his co-horts, as he wanted to be in the same hierarchy with his Maker, The Source. Illumination was able to gain support from some of the multi-dimensional members, including some of The Elements-Wind, Water and Fire and convince them to rebel against their Maker.

Chapter One
The Source, the sum total of all universal energies, the epitome of the beginning and end, orchestrated the Peak of Eternal Abode by the use of the words: “Let there be the Peak of Eternal Abode”. At the State of Harmony, He is the male and female energy combined. His Seat of Glory was coated with Divine Gold imprints with the name written as “The Source, The Universal” while his creations, the extra-terrestrials, were His Sub-Universals. His influence was measured in Terms of Infinity. Though he created other worlds for his pleasure and Divine Temporary Transit of his creations, He dwelt richly in the gold-street, no-night and highly positive energy of Peak of Eternal Abode. It had abundance of the Rivers of Life, where no one under the habitation would thirst! The Fire of Consumption was designed to obliterate any irrelevances resulting from the activities of all extraterrestrials like left-overs of the Foundation of Organized Divinity after a divine-intake.
Illumination was the Light of the Source’s dwelling. Specially created from the Depths of Divinity, he was The Source’s most favored Sub-Universal. He radiated His Infinite Light, a rare gifting, which distinguished him from his extraterrestrial contemporaries. His Wonder Voice had a perfect convey to His Maker by the agreement of the Move of Acoustics through the Motion of the Wind and Steady by the Waters of Infinite Flow. All bowed down in their ever-worship behavior to Him at the moment Illumination uttered the words: “Oh, all creations adore Your Excellency, our Maker as we bow our heads before you.” There were infinite extraterrestrials but they all basked in the Joy of Fulfillment; they were able to carry out their duties as worshippers, suspended in the Wind of His Glory.
The Source’s Blueprint for the Creation of the Dense Physical World was shared with Illumination. In His Palace of Abode, Illumination was called to administer the Worth of Adoration and after that, the Source disclosed to him His Creation blueprint. Seating right to Him-seat coated with the Linings of Unperishing Silver, He disclosed absolutely the blueprint to the best of illumination’s understanding but reserving the actual knowledge to Him:
“I have been brooding since the Creation of Eternity the need to extend my frontiers of absolute influence to the material dimension, call it the dense, physical world. Pondering on the energies behind the thought propelled me into coming up with the plan of establishing my Foot-Stool, my physical eco-department.
Like what we have here, I would like to establish the physical equivalents at the material level. This material dimension is what I call the earth. In the Plan, the earth is actually a complementary element. You’ll understand this as your Strength of Eternal Understanding projects. Imagine where we have our physical equivalents honoring me as you all do here. Most importantly, I want to make what I project to be the most precious of my creations…That entity would be the physical expression of the male and female energy duality. IT would be given power, like I do here, to exert authority over all…except its Maker, Me. I would give IT power to assign itself an identity, a harmonization or better still, an equilibrium of the male-female energy. It will be great and ITS inspiration, ITS life-force energy, will come from ME alone. I will give the source-image over what would be ITS second fiddles-the physically dense trees, animals, plants, woods, and all other physical things. ITS influence would go past the physical; IT would control all other worlds except me. There are still lots more about IT!
The Earth, way below the threshold of your absorbed frequency range, would be a designed multi-dimensional, yet physical entity that would be designed by the Laws of Eternity which you know. I will design the earth to enable IT inter-relate with the other worlds of my creation while maintaining ITS physical state. I will structure the earth in such a manner that IT, through my consent and given the FULL Liberty of Control, which IS NOT for everyone here, will harmoniously inter-play ITS world and others for ITS own benefits—because IT would be the most adored of all of my creations ever.
Though you were able to understand all that I have said and it would be suffice for you to hear them, going by what I, your Maker, specially created you with, they are just Scratches of Eternity of what the Blueprint seeks to do. You and the other Infinite Extraterrestrials, including wind, water and fire, whose roles would be very important in ITS creation, would bear witness. Again, you will understand this better…
For now, that is all I have to say to you, illumination. I am saying this to you because of how special you have been to me. Therefore, as your authority, don’t ever tell any member of this abode what I discuss with you. They will get to know as the eternity rolls by. With that being said, rise up from your seat and assembly the host of the extra-terrestrial to shower praises on me for I am in dire need of it!”
Illumination did as he was told. But that would mean something…
The Source was done discussing with him, eternalizing his Blueprint agenda for creation. Illumination was, on Silver-coated seat, ruminating about what his creator had told him. Through the Depth of Inquiry, the inputted thought component, essential for his creation by the Source, reflecting itself as his mirror, he pondered: “who is man that IT should have great influence over ITS world to-be and other worlds. According to what He said, IT will have control over all extraterrestrials except Him! Yes, I have been created to adhere to what He had instructed; keeping the secrets of Revelation, as stated by the Eternal Law, I would have to call the attention of others, including Wind, Fire and Water to what he told me. I think I would raise a stiff opposition because He is about to raise, in the name of creation, a material entity, capable of influencing our entire world. How can a mere material product of His brooding become a sudden influence over us? I do not think that is possible! Come to think of it, I do have what He has! I think outside what I assert as the Identity of Dogma which other inhabitants of our abode have and worse still, are stuck with! Of course, it will not out of True Sight to say I am my master. In fact, it would be right to say that My Maker and I are on the same Page of Influence, since I am privy to all of His Blueprint. I will, once again, meet with other extraterrestrials to oppose what would become a conflict, even if it means violating what has been established before my creation.”
He had no idea that the Source had a telepathic idea of what was to happen. However, He kept mute to prepare Himself for the war against the Menace of Pride as a deterrent for the rest of the extraterrestrials. Convincingly, illumination had won quite a number of extraterrestrials, including some of the presence of Wind, Water and Fire to support his Campaign for Change, a theme which he had established. Being the Chief Leader of Praise, he was able to talk to them and that saw a Lack of Fellowship depicted among the extraterrestrials to carry out their duties- Praising and worshipping their Source. The Source knew this all along! But He asked them the question: “Why have halted my worship?”
“The Illumination” replied the extraterrestrials who took side with the Illumination. “Master, we cannot truly render the multi-dimensional exaltations of your sacredness without the synchronized involvement of all. We have decided not to take sides with illumination. Rather, following your instructions to the letter is what we are going for, despite illumination’s apparent conviction. However, without involvement of those who took sides with him, we will not be able to do what we have been created to do”
“I see…” The Source observed, starring at illumination’s face. “I knew it would come to this. You know quite well that I specially made you different from others. You were more specially made in terms of Infinite Streams of Energy points, eternally deposited in every fiber of your multi-dimensional self.  Your Depth of Divinity, your creation source, had made you Leader of Praise and the Path-finder of the Great Light. That was the reason I named you illumination because of how illuminating your voice had been structured and how you lead them to true worship of my unequalled being. However, you decided to deliberately violate the Supremacy of the Laws of Eternity by tuning in the vibrations of your Depths of Inquiry. As a result, you were able to corner for yourself a number of extraterrestrial supporters for yourself. Is it because of my Blueprint plan I disclose to you about? You also had the gut to convince them, knowing that they are not on the same page as you! Why has the Negative Conscious of Energies of pride, jealousy and envy permeated your-meant-to-be-radiant positive energy? Well, I know you are not ready to answer my question! You are head-bent to dragging what absolutely belongs to me! I have seen this perversion come into you but I wanted to teach all and sundry a lesson, using you as the instance! For deliberately and directly disobeying my eternal laws, I, The Source, by the Powers of Thorough Influence I truly own, declare illumination and his co-horts out of the Peak of Eternal Abode to the Negative Plane of Eternity!”
